Oli Fowler is a contemporary British artist, who specialises in screen printing and graphic design. Not limited to a single process, Fowler incorporates graphics, illustration, photography and photomontage into his work, combining these different mediums with an experimental approach. His work fuses the figurative and the abstract, exploiting innovative compositional technique, sharp, defined shapes, and a pure CMYK palette, for a bold and arresting visual quality. For 'DISCO' Fowler has printed the words 'Disco is the Perfect Love Affair' against a flat, light-blue background, varying the font size on each line for a strong compositional arrangement. For an illusory effect - like watching a 3D film without the glasses - Fowler has layered each letter in four, translucent shades of colour. The final result is hypnotic, an artful application of digital technique and a brilliant use of graphic design.
