The Closet By Rebecca Mason
Contemporary artist Rebecca Mason works with neon light to create a unique and striking aesthetic. Her work explores the darker side of human nature through the medium of light, for a conceptually powerful juxtaposition. In using neon, Mason allows the seediness of the city to seep into the delicacy of her work, which is always centred around typography, offering a slight but profound comment on human existence and emotion. 'The Closet' depicts the words 'We've all got things to hide', each letter bent from bright pink strips of neon light. The eye-catching word is set against a white background, onto which Mason has printed a poetic paragraph listing oh-so human lies, fibs and secrets. The use of neon light is mesmerizing and profoundly beautiful and Mason's ability to capture the deeply human and personal is life-affirming: a brilliant moment of illumination in an all-too often dark world. Please note that this is a print only and does not include lights or neon elements
