Contemporary artist Rebecca Mason works with neon light to create a unique and striking aesthetic. Her work explores the darker side of human nature through the medium of light, for a conceptually powerful juxtaposition. In using neon, Mason allows the seediness of the city to seep into the delicacy of her work, which is always centred around typography, offering a slight but profound comment on human existence and emotion. 'Word Search' depicts the single word 'lost', each letter bent from bright blue strips of neon light. The eye-catching word is set against a black background, onto which Mason has printed a poetic and emotive paragraph, that explores both the nature of art and the deeply personal.
